Hey y'all, I'm thinking about the 1.14.0 release!

I'd like to use the new ASF release tool. It'll take a bit more work the first time, but it should eventually make releases much easier
reply Tue 16:23Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
( ping @James Dailey, @Adam Saghy and anyone else with an opinion on release timing )
reply Tue 16:24Adam Saghy
I believe we dont have a date for next one yet. Feel free to use the new tool, we can target february or march if needed
reply Tue 16:26Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
I was hoping we could start now-ish. πŸ™‚
reply Tue 16:26Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
Last one was Oct 20 (and I started it a couple weeks before that)
reply Tue 16:26Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
Dec '25 - Jan '26 would be in line with our quarterly release goal
reply Tue 16:27Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
I just need a good `develop` commit to branch from
reply Tue 16:35Adam Saghy
you can, if you are up for it... i was just considering holiday seasons πŸ˜„
reply Tue 16:35Adam Saghy
if you have a date in mind, you can start the preparation and i can try to support you what to include / exclude
reply Tue 16:39Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
How about today?
reply Tue 16:39Adam Saghy
do you want to release today?
reply Tue 16:40Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
no, just start the process (pick commit, branch, build artifacts, sign, vote, etc.)
reply Tue 16:41Adam Saghy
i guess you can give a try...

reply Tue 16:42Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
ok, I'm looking at dee325e. CI is green for that commit.
reply Tue 23:49Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
next is jira cleanup and ... wait two weeks? :face_palm: How about two days?
reply Wed 16:49Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
@Adam Saghy (and others) what do you think about trying to do this faster than usual? If we're more or less release-ready right now, I don't see the need for weeks of preparation. I already created and pushed the `release/1.14.0` branch. I can build/tag/rc anytime and get us to the vote asap.
reply Wed 19:07Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
Will you take a look at jira?
reply Wed 21:37Adam Saghy
i will try to find time tomorrow

reply Wed 21:39James Dailey
The two weeks in the process was essentially to help β€œcure” any issues - to cherry pick changes. It’s not at all required.

so close! Here's a shot of the ATR with a test draft release. The one error is because it can't figure out the license for `jquery-1.7.min.js`, but it should be skipping that file anyway. Sean will look into that error tomorrow.
reply Thu 22:52Adam Monsen (meonkeys)
The ATR is cool. It sure seems like we'll be able to use it (and if not we can fall back to the existing/legacy process).
